The Mercedes R230 class SL was presented in 2001 at the Frankfurt Auto show, and that same year at the motor show of Bologna (replacing the R129). In 2006 and in 2008 underwent renovations in 2011, it was replaced by the model SL-Class R231. It was in 1997, after many studies, when they approved the final design of the Mercedes SL R230, which was improved during the following years. In 1999, they filed the patent in Germany and in the year 2000 in the united States. It was five years later, in 2001, when it was introduced in the Frankfurt motor show. In that same year began production at the plant in Bremen. In 2006 it underwent its first facelift, and this version was presented in 2006 at the Geneva motor show. In the year 2008 was another facelift of this generation Mercedes SL.
